Walkbase announces new Head of Account Management to strengthen footprint in UK

Analytics and marketing platform for retailers, banks and airports announces the appointment of Catherine Dawson as Head of Account Management

Helsinki – January 31, 2016 - Walkbase, the provider of in-store analytics for retail stores, banks and airports, today announced that Catherine Dawson has joined the team in the UK in a bid to continue the rapid growth the company saw last year. Cat officially started at Walkbase in November 2015 and will help grow Walkbase’s customer base in the UK.

Cat’s role will include helping retailers and airports use Wi-Fi and other existing in-store technology to provide detailed information on customers’ behaviour in physical stores. This insight will be used to integrate online and offline channels, enhance customer experience and track marketing performance.

Most of her career has been spent helping customers find new ways of solving business issues through engaging with technology. For the past 18 years Cat has worked in the communication and technology space, most recently as a Director for The Local Data Company, heading up the sales team in delivering retail location insights. Before that she was at Telefonica, leading key customers and sales teams and helping retailers embrace a move to the digital world.

“Following the success of 2015, we have brought Cat on board to continue this very exciting expansion in the UK market”, said Adrian James, UK MD of Walkbase. “Cat has a wealth of experience, working with both a major telco organisation and data analytics company so she’s a great fit and will bring the skills needed to help our customers reap the benefits of Walkbase’s technology.”

The company recently announced a record number of customer wins, with 2015 Q3 revenues  exceeding the previous two quarters combined, contributing to more than 700% year-on-year growth. This was partly the result of three the UK’s main grocery stores deploying the technology as well as a contract to install the technology in all stores of global footwear and accessories brand, Dune.

Cat Dawson added: “I’m incredibly excited to be joining such a fast moving company, which already works with several major airports and some of the biggest retailers on the high street. Walkbase is expanding rapidly and I hope to support this growth by working closely with retailers, airports and banks to deploy the technology and monetise the premises they have as much as possible, by providing a superior customer experience.”

About Walkbase

Walkbase is the leading in-store analytics and marketing solution for retailers, which is helping the high-street “dinosaur” bite back. Just like web analytics platforms have revolutionised the online shopping experience, Walkbase provides the same level of personalisation to brick-and-mortar stores through smartphone engagement.

Based on indoor location technology, the platform provides real-time analytics on customers’ habits so the same level of personalisation can apply in brick-and-mortar as it does online. It analyses in-store customer patterns, measures and optimises the impact of marketing on physical stores, engages customers with personalised in-store marketing, and links the online and offline customer journeys together.

The cloud-based Walkbase platform combines Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and camera technologies, and takes advantage of existing store hardware. Founded in 2010, the company is headquartered in Finland, with offices in Helsinki (FIN), Turku (FIN), London (UK) and Bern (Switzerland).
